Booking for World Youth Day Panama is now open!
Young Dubliners (ages 16-29) are now being invited to join in a pilgrimage to Panama for World Youth Day in January 2019.
World Youth Day is an international Church event, similar to the World Meeting of Families, which is focused on young people. It is held in a different country every three years and takes place in Panama for 2019. Pope Francis is expected to travel for the first time to Panama to engage with young people there, and the Office for Evangelisation & Ecumenism is inviting parishes, parish groups and deanery areas to nominate young people who might be interested in travelling on this inspirational pilgrimage.
The travel dates are 18th–30th January 2019. Unfortunately, due to the distance involved, places are limited to 30 pilgrims. Deposits and bookings can be made online and the cost of the trip can be covered by scheduled payments.
All pilgrims will undergo preparation and will take part in the Diocesan young adult leadership programme.
A number of places are still available for World Youth Day in Panama. Pastoral preparation for all pilgrims will commence in September 2018. To find out more or to book, go to www.evangelisation.ie
Pope Francis’ Message for the 33rd World Youth Day – which will be held at diocesan level on Palm Sunday – centres on the theme: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God” (Lk 1:30). The document is available in various languages on the Vatican website at http://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/messages/youth/index.html
