Positive Mental Health for All!

An initiative aimed at increasing awareness among young people in Dublin’s city centre on the importance of looking after your mental health takes place tomorrow.

A seminar focusing on suicide awareness, involving those working directly with young people, will be held at 11am in The Wood Quay Venue in the Dublin City Council Civic Offices (Thursday 17th).

50th International Eucharistic Congress announces details of Healing Stone

The 50th International Eucharistic Congress (IEC2012) will feature the unveiling of a Healing Stone during the Opening Ceremony in the RDS on 10 June as a means of acknowledging the abuse of children.

The Healing Stone comprises a large, shaped piece of Wicklow granite which is engraved with a prayer composed by a survivor of clerical abuse.  The prayer was originally featured in the Liturgy of Lament celebrated in Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral in 2011.

50th International Eucharistic Congress Launches iPhone & iPad App

The 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 (IEC2012) launches a free iPhone and iPad App designed exclusively for Congress pilgrims by Dominican Friar Luuk Dominiek Jansen in conjunction with IEC2012 staff.

The IEC2012 App gives pilgrims from all over the world the opportunity to experience the Congress through 21st Century technology. 

The App provides a comprehensive guide for pilgrims to the Congress programme including a pilgrim guide, a pastoral resources tool, and news and multimedia feeds.

Liturgy Books for the Congress

The 50th International Congress, in conjunction with Magnificat, is arranging to make available a supply of the Liturgy booklets which will be used at the Congress

There are a number of decorating materials that have been sourced by the Parish Decorating Committee on behalf of the Dublin Preparatory Committee for the International Eucharistic Congress for 2012.

29/04/2012 St Andrew's Church celebrates 180 years at the heart of Dublin City

A parish that has been at the heart of Dublin City for almost two centuries will come together in celebration this weekend.


On Sunday, (29th April), St Andrew's Church on Westland Row will celebrate its 180th anniversary.  The celebrations are being held in preparation for the Eucharistic Congress which takes place in June. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will be the principal celebrant of the anniversary Mass which takes place at 11.30am.

First Church Conference to address the Pastoral needs of Travellers

The Parish of the Travelling People are holding their first national conference, ‘Towards Enhanced Pastoral Practice’ tomorrow, (Thursday 19th April).

The aim of the conference is to bring together all those working with the Travelling Community with a view to enhancing and developing pastoral outreach to Travellers.

50th International Eucharistic Congress involves Alpha

The 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 (IEC2012) is pleased to announce the involvement of Alpha, a parish tool for evangelisation, providing people with a practical introduction to the Christian faith, as part of the official Congress programme from 10 – 17 June 2012.

Alpha will participate during the eight-day Congress by contributing to the Host Church programme, the official Congress programme and the Chiara Luce Youth Space. 

Celebration of “Messiah in the Street”

Some of the finest choral singers will come together this weekend for what is sure to be a spectacular musical performance. Our Lady’s Choral Society, a choir of the Archdiocese of Dublin, will celebrate the 21st anniversary of “Messiah in the Street” in celebration of its world premiere which took place in 1742.

Our Lady’s Choral Society has been associated with Handel’s Messiah since it’s foundation in 1945 when members of church choirs across the Archdiocese of Dublin, came together to perform Handel’s masterpiece.
