Rector of Pontifical Irish College nominated Monsignor by Pope Bendict XVI

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has announced the nomination by Pope Benedict XVI of Fr. Ciaran O’ Carroll as Chaplain to His Holiness – this is an honorary Papal Title which nominates him as Monsignor.

Monsignor Ciarán O’Carroll was appointed Rector of the Pontifical Irish College in Rome in September last year. Previously, he served as  the Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation in the Archdiocese of Dublin and Administrator of the Catholic University Church on Saint Stephen’s Green, Dublin.  

Monsignor O’Carroll lectured in ecclesiastical history at a number of third level institutes including Holy Cross College in Clonliffe, Dublin, and at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth in County Kildare.  He served as secretary to the Council of Priests, Chair of the Dublin Diocesan Trócaire Working Group and was a member both of the Diocesan Council and the board of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Ireland 2012.
