School of the Word

Biblical Studies

As various parish programmes begin to start up again, I’m writing to invite you to consider having a biblical programme in your parish. The overall initiative is entitled School of the Word.

The SOTW offers a basic introductory set of courses as well as a set of more advanced biblical studies. All the programmes are explicitly linked to the Lectionary and use a modified “lectio divina” approach. The intended participants include readers, bible groups members and all interested parishioners. An ecumenical dimension is especially welcome. The SOTW is part of my work for the diocese, so there is no charge to the parish.

On the website, there are more details and links to dedicated pages for most of the programmes.

Basic programmes (all involve six modules)

  • Introducing Mark
  • Introducing Paul
  • Introducing the Old Testament.

In general, it is perhaps best to start with the Gospel set of modules.

Further programmes (involving 6 to 8 modules)

  • Romans
  • Eucharist
  • John
  • Hebrews
  • Prophets
  • Introduction to the Holy Land (for pilgrims to Israel)

Modules can also be arranged according to request.

The simplest approach is to give me a ring on my mobile: 086 3390247.

Kind regards,
