Young people raise their voices for homeless
Over two hundred teenagers and young adults will be singing in the Pro Cathedral in Dublin this Friday evening(25th) to raise funds for homeless services.
The event is taking place to mark culture night in Dublin where venues throughout the city will stay open to the public for the evening to host a series of arts and cultural performances.
Second level students from 12 schools from all parts of the Dublin Archdiocese will be taking part including students from Skerries, Clondalkin and Killiney.
They will be singing a range of music from the Emmanuel School Music Programme in the Diocese which they sang in the Helix last March under the direction of Ian Callanan. Fr. Pat O Donoghue, Diocesan Director of Music, based at the Pro-
Cathedral says that ‘this singing marathons links music and praise with real life issues and will help the city on a culture night to see different aspects of life, “
While events from culture night in the capital are free – members of the public in the Pro Cathedral will be invited to make a donation, Also proceeds raised will go to Crosscare Homeless and food bank services.
Singing in the Pro gets underway at 7pm tomorrow evening and runs until 10pm.
This event will be preceded by Vespers at 5.15 p.m. sung by the Boys of the Palestrina Choir who will also lead the music at the 5.45 p.m. Mass.
