Laudate 2019

The Laudate Festival is a project of the Archdiocese that builds a common repertoire of hymns in both school and parish so that children may feel more connected at parish liturgical events and weekly celebrations. The aims of the project have borne fruit in many parishes in the diocese since the inception of Laudate during Catholic Schools week in 2017.

An open invitation to participate in Laudate 2019 was issued to all the primary schools in the Diocese in June 2018. Fifty schools responded to the invitation and are now actively engaged in preparation.

The highlight  of the Laudate 2019 will be the celebration of three festival evenings during Catholic Schools Week during which choirs composed of hundreds of children  will lead congregational singing and reflections.   Parents, families, parish choirs, parishioners and anyone who would  like to join in an evening of song and reflection  are invited to any of the venues.

Regarding parishes from which schools are participating in Laudate 2019 opportunities may be found to include the school Laudate choir, the parish choir and congregation in the singing of some of the repertoire together.   It is important to celebrate the participation  of your school.  The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ {Corpus Christi) provides the best opportunity for the parishioners along with the families of children who received the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation to gather and celebrate in belonging in faith through song.

Please note the festival nights in your parish diary and weekly newsletter.
