HistoryThe St Brigid’s Parish area was a centre of early Christianity, which led to an ancient church at Tully, dedicated to St Brigid. Throughout the centuries of persecution and the Penal Laws priests were active from local hiding places. A 1687 baptismal note reads Cabansheala – Sheila’s Cabin. The present church was built in 1836. The Parish celebrated its 175th anniversary on October 10, 2012. |
