Parish History

Seventh-century parish which was Chapter of St Patrick’s 1190 – which continued at Old Abbey 1235. 1618 Kilkenny Synod grouped together seve local parishes with one Prebend. Canon William Shergall, by Papal provision, was advanced to Prebend of Howth and Vicar Forane on March 24, 1631 (he resided in Baldoyle).
